Mike Orndorff, developer of Pettaway Square in downtown Little Rock, has announced new ownership on the horizon for Pettaway Coffee, the neighborhood’s local coffee shop: Ashanti Parker and Jacob Smith. Ashanti runs cottage bakery Daisy Pastry Shoppe along with her mother, Jennifer Hill Green, and the two have been stocking Pettaway Coffee’s pastry case for about a year. Ashanti became interested as soon as she heard Mike was ready to sell the business. “Jacob, my boyfriend and soon-to-be-husband, has a background in business that perfectly complements my expertise in baking,” Ashanti says. “Together we make a balanced team.”
In a Facebook post announcing the news, Mike called Ashanti and Jacob “the perfect fit” for the coffee shop’s next phase, in part because they are Pettaway residents themselves and thus invested in the area’s success. “Jacob and I moved to Pettaway in April and quickly fell in love with the neighborhood,” Ashanti says.
Going forward, fans of Daisy Pastry Shoppe can still expect to find their favorites available at Pettaway Coffee, plus a few more. “Our menu is packed with delicious treats, including cinnamon buns, muffins, cookies, and kolaches,” Ashanti says, adding that sandwiches are new on the menu effective immediately. “As we grow, we plan to expand our pastry offerings even further.”
