Let’s Visit Ferndale Market

Writer: Tiffany Adams Photographer: Jamie Lee

Upon their retirement, Dr. Michelle Krause and her husband, Kent, had the idea to move to Northwest Arkansas and start a naturally grown farm stand.

But life had other plans, and the pair thought, Why wait? They got their start selling heirloom tomatoes at the Ferndale Farmers Market, but soon they began to envision something bigger and more permanent.

In March of 2025, the couple welcomed their first customers to the market on Kanis Road, just across the street from the farmers market location where they began. Now, the Certified Naturally Grown staple food market is rooted in the community—and the Krauses are here to stay. “We are always trying to partner with local vendors,” Michelle says of their continuing efforts to grow their offerings. Visit them to shop for produce and other groceries, or grab a bite from the sandwich counter.
